Medications may be prescribed by your psychiatrist or Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner (ARNP) to help with mood, attention, or medication-managementorganization of thinking. Florida law and good medical practice dictates that patients on medications should be evaluated by the physician/ARNP at regular intervals, and whenever a change in status occurs.

After the Initial Psychiatric Evaluation, medication management visits may range from weekly to monthly to assure that the effects of the medications are effective.  These visits also help to monitor that your mood is stabilized. Time range is 15-45 minutes depending on each individual’s personal needs. Once stabilized, medication management visits typically run 15-20 minutes during which time the psychiatrist/ARNP reviews the effects and side effects of the medication, and makes adjustments as necessary. Counseling/psychotherapy in addition to this time may also be provided depending upon the needs of the patient.
