MEET OUR TEAM

Our psychiatric offices are located in Saint Augustine (World Golf Village) and Orange Park (Kingsley Ave.).
We are a general psychiatrist office providing medication management and counseling services.
Treat:  Mood Disorders, Depression, Anxiety, PTSD, Attention Deficit Disorder
Our providers are on most insurance plans, including Medicare, Tricare, Florida Blue,  Aetna, and Cigna .
Primarily Adult Psychiatry – we mainly evaluate and treat patients 18 and older.  Teens and adolescents under the age of 18 are seen on a case by case basis.
Mark Dearing, LCSW will evaluate and treat adults and children 6 years old and up.
Geraldine Rodrigues-Pratt, ARNP will evaluate and treat adults and children 6 years old and up.

We do not conduct disability or fitness for duty evaluations.  Please do not schedule a new patient appointment for this purpose.  We do not fill out disability forms on new patients.

Emanuel Martinez, M.D.

Dr. Martinez has been a Board Certified Psychiatrist in private practice since 1995, and received his bachelors and graduates degrees form the University of Illinois. He performed his internship at Tulane School of Medicine, and his Residency at Baylor College of Medicine. He has been in Private Practice in the Northeast Florida area since 1995.

“Our goal is to empower our patients in obtaining Mental Health”. “I believe in treatment using a team based, but patient-centered approach in treating psychiatric disorders.” EMA’s providers come from an array of multidisciplinary backgrounds, who provide their patients with a friendly, warm and empathetic therapy atmosphere.

Sandra Currie, L.M.H.C.

Sandra is a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with ten years of experience. As a graduate of the University of North Florida, She has work in a variety of settings including; Inpatient psychiatric units, hospice, domestic violence shelter, community mental health and private practice.

“I believe in the importance of understanding the clients whole person and delve into their emotional and spiritual beliefs and then their physical and nutritional patterns.” This approach helps Sandra with her specialties of adults, couples and families. She works with patients as they deal with issues such as relationships, grief, self-esteem, abuse and trauma as well as conditions such as chronic bipolarism, depression, and life transitions..

Mark Dearing, LCSW, ACSW

Mark received his Master of Social Work Degree from Florida State University in 1981 and his ACSW (Academy of Certified Social Workers for Independent Practice) Board Certification in 1990.

He councils children, adolescents, and adults using therapies such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Structural/Strategic Therapy and EMDR a treatment for trauma and PTSD (eye movement desensitization reprocessing), and can give a Christian perspective upon request.

Geraldine Rodriguez-Pratt, ARNP

Geraldine joined EMA in 2008 and has been an ARNP(Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner) for eight years. A Hawaii native she attended Hawaii Pacific University and received her Masters from University of Hawaii, Manoa. She has since relocated to the Jacksonville area.

She believes in a holistic model in treating patients by encouraging a healthy supporting lifestyle such as diet, exercise, and proper rest. This creates balance in ones life and promotes a positive treatment outcome.

Polly Peterson, Ph.D.

Polly has been in private practice as a psychologist for over twenty-five years. She is a graduate of the University of Michigan, with her post graduate degrees from Michigan State University. She has also been a tenured professor at the University of Miami Medical School.

Gaining a strong therapeutic alliance with each patient and customizing a flexible treatment plan are essential to achieving effective psychotherapy with fewer relapses. Polly focuses on strengths, virtues, resiliency, and happiness in a model of positive psychotherapy whether treating anxiety, depression, ADHD. PTSD, medical illness, grief, anger or a myriad of relationship challenges. This results in the patient achieving an outcome of realistic optimism, connection to one’s self and others, and empowerment to feel fulfilled, balanced and happy.

Virginia Greiner, ARNP

Virginia graduated from the University of Florida with a Masters of Science in Nursing. She is board certified by the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.

She also holds a certificate from University of Florida as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Virginia believes in setting a tone for treatment that emphasizes all aspects of the client’s life as meaningful. “I have had patients tell me things that they have yet to share with anyone else. I am humbled by the trust they grant to me.”

Virginia believes that patient education on diagnosis, treatment and other health related issues is key to promoting each client’s highest level of wellness. Counseling is offered on site at Emanuel Martinez and Associates and Virginia encourages clients to engage in this treatment modality. Virginia offers assessment and treatment for all types of mental health issues with a specialty in psychopharmacological treatment of postpartum depression.

Cindy Wilson, ARNP

Cindy Wilson is a Board Certified Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. She obtained her bachelor’s degree from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and her Master’s Degree at the University of Florida.

Cindy has over 20 years of experience in psychiatric nursing in both a clinical and administrative setting. She started her career as a staff nurse and has worked in all specialty areas of psychiatry, such as child, adolescent, adult, intensive care, chemical dependency/addictions, and eating disorders. Cindy was also the Director of Nursing for a psychiatric hospital before joining Emanuel Martinez, M.D. and Associates as a Nurse Practitioner. She provides comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and medication management for adults with mood disorders, anxiety disorders, psychotic disorders, substance-related disorders, and cognitive disorders. Cindy will treat on a case by case basis adolescents age 13 and up. She also acts as a referral liaison for clients who need more specialized medical care.

Cindy takes great pride in providing excellent advanced nursing care to her clients, and will strive to help them achieve optimal well-being.
